The Portuguese Geotechnical Society (SPG) has been representing the International Tunelling and Underground Space Association (ITA) in Portugal since the end of the 1980s. In 2006 the Portuguese Tunnel and Underground Works Commission Portuguese Tunnel and Underground Works Commission (CPT) was created. This group belonging to the SPG, made up of the Portuguese members of ITA.
