The The XXXVIII Manuel Rocha Lesson was presented, on November 22, 2021, in Auditorium 2 of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, by Professor Scott Burns (Professor of the State University of Portland, USA/California), who addressed the theme “Climatic Warming – using the past to prepare for the future of increased landslide and other geological disaster activity“.
The presentation of the speaker was in charge of Ricardo Oliveira and the final vote of thanks was made by Isabel Fernandes. At the end of the Lesson the Presidents of AGAA/UNL and SPG, Ana Quintela and Alexandre Pinto, respectively, presented the speaker with the SPG medal and the Lesson certificate.
The Administrator of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Guilherme d’Oliveira Martins, the Member of the Board of Directors of LNEC, Eduardo Fortunato, and Manuel Rocha’s family were among those attending the Lesson.
At the end of the session, the President of the SPG, on behalf of the Scientific Committee for the Manuel Rocha Lesson, announced that the speaker of the XXX IX Manuel Rocha Lesson, to be held in the last quarter of 2022, on a date to be announced in due course, will be Luís Lamas, Principal Investigator of LNEC.
